Biography

Dragan Znidarcic was born on 2 April 1962 in Postojna, Slovenia. After secondary school he joined University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical faculty, Department of Agronomy from where he secured BSc (Agriculture) in 1988, MSc (Horticulture) in 1996 and a PhD in 2004 (Horticulture).
Dragan Znidarcic started his career as an agricultural specialist at the organic farm (Agroemona Domžale) where provides content expertise and management for an educational farm program designed to train beginning farmers and ranchers in sustainable agricultural practices and production operations. After working there for five years, he joined the Biotechnical faculty in 1995 as Senior Horticulturist. In 2008/2009 in charge of lectures of »Growing of Less Known Vegetables, Aromatic Plants and Sprouts«. From 1/10/2014 he become associate professor of Horticulture at the Biotechnical faculty and from 1/11/2015 he is employed at University of Primorska, Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies, as well.
Curent research activity is mainly oriented on: plant nutrition and fertilization in horticulture, with particular regard at: kinetic of nutrient uptake, interaction among macro- and micro-nutrients, methodological approach to the use of optical tools for plant nutritional status estimation and dynamic fertilization management, management of the nutrient solution in soilless cropping systems; management of water and irrigation with particular regard to the physiology of drought stress and evaluation of its effect on growth and yield, as well as the evaluation of evapotranspiration and determination of water requirements for crops in tomato, bell pepper and potato. Dragan Znidarcic collaborated on 14 national research projects.
