Dr. Roshan T Ramessur is currently Associate Professor in Environmental and Ocean Sciences at the University of Mauritius and also Board Member of the Mauritius Oceanography Institute since 2005. He holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Wales under U.K Commonwealth and Chevening Scholarships and his Ph.D. thesis is related to biogeochemistry of trace metals and nutrients in a tropical coastal system. His research interests covers coastal sciences, ocean economy and climate change adaptation. He has published a number of research articles on submarine groundwater discharge (IAEA- UNESCO Intercomparison Experiments), dissolved nutrients and sediment chemistry in peer reviewed journals, as book chapters and conference proceedings. He has participated in a number of international conferences worldwide and is also editorial board member of a few international journals and advisory member of the ocean knowledge cluster and participate as panellist at UN-DESA (New York) for the SIDS forum.
