Cornel Stanciu, M.D. is the 2017 Ruth Fox, American Association of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), scholar and 2017 Governors Institute on Substance Abuse scholar. He will be starting an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Dartmouth College in July 2017. Throughout his career, Dr Stanciu played an active and significant role in academia having published a multitude of papers related to substance abuse, correlation between substance use and mood disorders, and novel approaches to treatment resistant depressive disorders. He is best known for the most recent meta-analysis examining the augmentive use of bright light therapy in affective disorders, which gained international attention. He also has edited papers for various psychiatry journals. His research has been presented at various national and international conferences. Dr. Stanciu is actively involved with several organizations such as American Psychiatric Association (APA), North Carolina Psychiatric Association (NCPA), American Association of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) and American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). He contributes to their newsletters through regular publications.
