Dr. Chunlei Liu is Assistant Professor in Radiology Duke University School of Medicine NC He received his PhD in 2005 at Stanford University Electrical Engineering. He received NIH Pathway to Independence Award 2006 and Young Investigator Award Finalist International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine 2007.
Research efforts center on developing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) techniques for translational medical applications. I am particularly interested in the in vivo imaging of brain white-matter architecture and function. The non-invasive examination of white-matter architecture with MRI is possible thanks to two basic phenomenons: 1) water diffusion inside the axons is anisotropic (orientation varying), and 2) magnetic susceptibility of the axon is also anisotropic.
