Dr. Mariana Peimbert is a distinguished biologist and biochemist affiliated with the Department of Natural Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in Mexico City. Investigación UAM She earned her biology degree from the Faculty of Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and subsequently completed her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at UNAM's Institute of Biotechnology. Dr. Peimbert further honed her expertise through postdoctoral fellowships at UNAM's Laboratory of Experimental and Molecular Evolution and the Laboratory of Physicochemistry and Protein Engineering. At UAM's Cuajimalpa Campus, Dr. Peimbert imparts knowledge in courses such as Cell Biology, Genetics, Evolution, Bioinformatics, and Biochemistry. Her research interests encompass protein biochemistry—focusing on folding, stability, engineering, and evolution—and environmental microbiology, particularly microbiomes and metagenomics. Notably, she has conducted extensive studies on the microbiomes present in Mexico City's metro system
