Biography
Professor Hora Soltani is Professor in Maternal and Infant Health at the Centre for Health & Social Care Research. Hora is a registered Midwife and her first degree is in Midwifery. She was awarded a Masters degree in Human Nutrition in 1994, a PhD in 1997 and a Certificate in Health Service Research: conducting systematic reviews in 2001, from University of Sheffield.
 
Hora has been researching for over 16 years, based in various clinical and academic settings. The scope of her research is focused on maternal and infant health, leading to significant and high impact outputs, some of which have been far reaching and embraced worldwide. One example is the Cochrane systematic review on "Models of maternity care" which become a “citation classic”, receiving over 190 citations so far (Google Scholar; August 2012).  Her other areas of research include postpartum haemorrhage, breastfeeding and maternal obesity and health behaviour change.
 

An important feature in Hora's Midwifery research development is its diverse nature and collaboration with a wide range of disciplines (e.g. Design and Technology, Health psychology, Food and Nutrition Sciences, Obstetrics) but retaining a thematic integrity.
