Biography
Rebecca Guest (Bec) is a Registered Psychologist who started work at the READ Clinic in 2010 as an Intern Psychologist.   Bec completed her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology - Bachelor of Arts (Psych) at The University of Newcastle in 2008 and went on to do her Psychology Honours in 2009. Bec is currently studying her Master of Clinical Psychology Post Graduate degree at Charles Sturt University. She also works in research for Sydney University in the area of psychosocial adjustment to spinal cord injured clients. Bec also continues to follow her interest in Forensic Psychology; an area which she hopes to focus on in the future.   Bec is registered with the NSW Psychologists Registration Board and is an Assoc. Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is Medicare accredited and is approved for Private Health Fund insurance companies, and is an approved provider for Workcover. Bec works within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy framework across a diversified diagnostic area including Anxiety, Depression, Pain Management, Assertiveness and Communication, Stress management, Grief and Loss, Phobias and Fears, amongst others. Bec has a special interest in working with spinal cord injuries and the management of the many adjustments these clients encounter.   Bec's main area of interest lies within adult mental health, however her holistic approach often also encompasses family and children. She is also a registered Group Facilitator on the Central Coast, for the highly successful and accredited Friends Program targeting anxiety, depression, and self- esteem for children of all ages. As part of Bec's holistic approach, she acutely recognises the importance of a physically healthy lifestyle for optimal mental health, and actively promotes, and incorporates this into her clinical work.
