Biography

Dr. Jason Long completed his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomechanical Engineering at Marquette University. Since 2008 he has served as the Chief of Motion Analysis at the Medical College of Wisconsin, with a research faculty appointment in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He previously worked in the Human Performance Laboratory in the Center on Aging at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He has served as Communications Committee chair of the Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society

Research Interest

Dr. Long’s research has focused on the biomechanics of foot and ankle motion, including a series of studies characterizing foot and ankle pathology before and after surgical intervention. His interests also include the role of gait analysis in the clinical decision-making process, and the determination of factors which best direct treatment choice. Collaborations include the departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Physical Therapy at Marquette University, and Shriners Hospital-Chicago. Dr. Long is a lead investigator on the NIDRR RERC in Pediatric Orthopaedics recently awarded to Marquette University. He has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and serves on the review boards of the Journal of Biomechanics, Clinical Biomechanics, Gait and Posture, and Transactions of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers
