Biography
 Gillian A. Hotz, PhD, research professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is a nationally recognized behavioral neuroscientist and expert in pediatric and adult neurotrauma, concussion management, and neurorehabilitation. She has extensive experience in neurocognitive testing and is licensed and certified to perform ImPACT, a computerized neurocognitive screening to assess mental status following a concussion. Dr. Hotz has been co-director of the Miller School of Medicine’s Concussion Program since 1995, and continues to assess and treat many athletes from Miami-Dade County public and private high schools, University of Miami, and from other colleges and the community. As a graduate of Boston University with a masters of science degree in Speech Language Pathology, and earned a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience at Boston University School of Medicine, she has been working at the Miller School of Medicine since 1992. Initially developing an Intermediate Head Injury Service, then co-directing the Pediatric Brain & SCI Program and now spending a lot of her time developing, implementing and evaluating a Countywide Concussion Care Program. She also conducts federally funded clinical research studies for traumatic brain injury in children and co-authored the Pediatric Test of Brain Injury.
