Biography

Dr. Craven is a Physiatrist with a Clinician Scientist role at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Lyndhurst Centre within the Brain and Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Program. My formal education has included a BA in Physical Education (now Kinesiology) from York University; undergraduate medical and postgraduate specialty training in Physiatry at McMaster University; and a Clinical Scholar year in SCI, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. She is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Medicine & Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. Her clinical and research expertise is in the prevention and treatment of secondary health conditions/multimorbidity of spinal cord injury, with a focus on sublesional osteoporosis and health service provision. Dr Craven is the Ontario lead for the SCI-IMPACT team, an interprovincial group of 26 clinicians and scientists in Ontario and Quebec focused on ameliorating secondary health conditions after spinal cord injury. Dr. Craven has authored or coauthored over 90 articles on related topics.

Research Interest

Dr. Craven's clinical and research expertise is in the prevention and treatment of secondary health conditions among people living with spinal cord injury, with a focus on sublesional osteoporosis (SLOP), the interrelationships between body composition and multimorbidity of chronic disease, and health service provision.
