Abstract

The Era of Postelimination: A Case of De-Novo Histoid Leprosy

Pavithra JR*, Mangala HC, Vaishnavi S, Murugesh SB

The histoid type of leprosy has been described as occurring in lepromatous leprosy patients who relapse after many years of apparently successful dapsone monotherapy. Histoid lepromas are sudden eruption of dome shaped lesions usually associated with dapsone resistance, as a variant of lepromatous leprosy or rarely arising de novo. Histoid leprosy is a clinical variant of nodular form of lepromatous leprosy. In this paper we will discuss about the early diagnosis and the treatment to prevent deformities.
