Abstract

Analytical chemistry as the key science for medicinal chemistry in analysis and synthesis towards better healthcare

Surjani Wonorahardjo

Chemistry as a scientific discipline that study matter in in smallest scale of nature, involving composition, structure, properties, behavior, en ergy and its changes. This way chemistry describes nature as well as synthesize nature. Analytical chemistry developed methods and modern instrumentations to reveal every tiny details of materials, including in living bodies. The same methods can be used to approach replica systems, as chemists work on medicinal chemistry as well as biomaterials. Knowledge about dynamics in interfaces of materials and biomaterials is crucial, since most of bioprocesses occurs in this area. The aim of this discussion is to create a discourse in using chemistry as one perspective for doing further science. Medicinal chemistry offers different processes to overcome anomalies in living body. Natural or synthetic medicines create new equilibrium system on application. Functions and equilibrium are two important topics to relate the chemistry topics in medicinal chemistry, aided by methods in analytical chemistry. The art of interplay between analysis and synthesis chemistry determine human welfare in the long run. Physician must use chemistry way of thinking to understand many more phenomena better. On the other hand, scientific works in today’s digital era generate expansion of scientific data. The power of digital communication shifts the progress in science much faster than before. This way, Baconian induction methods, also in chemistry and biochemistry, can rely on modern databases. Big data analysis is now important also to create new shortcut topics in medicinal area. Computational chemistry works well as laboratory alternatives of animal testing requirements. Personalization of unique bodies, neural network, artificial intelligence, even simple augmented reality will work together in medicinal science towards better healthcare. Visualization and analysis as well as communication would be vital in modern analytical science. And last but not least, chemistry and science education cover heavier tasks than before, which are related to wider scope of nature and environment as well as ethics.
