Abstract

A Case Report of Minimally Invasive Management of Recurrent Multiple Nasal Polyps

Liang, Song

Background: A case of extensive nasal polyposis with rarely aggressiverecurrent nature and its management is presented.Case: A 59-year-old female patient visited the comprehensive clinic, complaining of recurrence of nasal polyps. The patient presentedwith multiple large polypoid lesion protruding from the bothnostril, which had been treated with thermal ablations for morethan four times. Biopsy under local anaesthesia was performed, showing findings consistent with nonspecific inflammation. Minimallyprocedure with microinjection of Triamcinolone Acetonidethrough nasoscope under local anaesthesia was performed layerby layer in a sequential time-point fashion, and the masses weremedicallyablated one after the other in the next three weeks. Postoperativefollow-up has shown no evidence of recurrence after 6months.Conclusion: Nasal polyps manifests typically in an aggressive recurrencemanner. Since thermal ablation has been intolerant aftermultiple times, we managed it under local anaesthesia at the clinic, suggesting minimally invasive management on complex nasalpolyps is feasible in the clinical setting.
