Dr. McFarlane is a professor of Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Radiology who served in several leadership positions including as Medical Director and Chief in the division of Endocrinology as well as Medical Director of Clinical Research in the College of Medicine. His clinical practice and research focused in areas of Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease as well as Osteoporosis. He also serves as the Director of the Osteoporosis and Bone Densitometry Units at both University Hospital of Brooklyn and Kings County Hospital Center. Dr. McFarlane has served as the Medical Director for the SUNY Downstate Physician Assistant Program since 2008.
Dr. Samy I McFarlane is working in the area of interface between sleep and endocrinology covering aspects of depression, cardiovacular and cerebrovascular disorders.

Dr. Zhang Xi was born in Sep 25, 1960 in Tianjin in China. He got Master Degree in The Fourth Military Medical University in 1984 and was awarded PhD in Neurology in Peking Union Medical University in 2002. He is professor of Geriatric Neurology and Director of Sleep Medicine Research Centre of Chinese PLA General Hospital. He is a supervisor for PhD & Master student of Chinese PLA General Hospital and a tutor for Master degree of Nan Kai University. Using structural MRI, functional MRI, PET-CT and event-related potentials, he has been engaged in pathophysiological research in sleep disorders and early biomarker of neurodegenerative diseases. Some of his research papers have been published in international journals such as Sleep Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology, Experimental Brain Research, Neuroscience Lett and NeuroImage etc. He is a Executive director of Chinese Sleep Research Society (CSRS) and vice chairman of Sleep Disorder Committee of CSRS.
Dr. Zhang Xi research intrests are centered on Pathophysiological research in sleep disorders and early biomarker of neurodegenerative diseases, Sleep Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology, Experimental Brain Research, Neuroscience Lett, and NeuroImage etc.
