Biography

Dr Bourlaye Fofana has received his PhD in Plant Molecular Biology and Biological Engineering at Gembloux Agricultural University, Belgium during the period of 1995-1999. Currently, he is working as  a Research Scientist in Plant Molecular Physiology and Genomics at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the Canadian federal department of agricultural research and Adjunct Professor at University of Prince Edward Island. His research has included germplasm characterization and development, plant biosynthetic pathways analysis and alteration, development of bioproducts and bioprocesses. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors, such as the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Fellowship, the Belgian State Secretary for Cooperation Development Price, the Belgian National Funds for Scientific Research Travel Scholarship, the Ivorian Government Ministry for Higher Education & Scientific Research Scholarship for Foreign Graduate Studies. He is serving as expert Reviewers for reputed journals like Plant Science, Crop Science, Genome, Annals of Applied Biology, Botany, Physiological and Molecular Plant Pathology, Crop science, Journal of Proteomics and Bioinformatics, Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry. He has authored 30+ research articles/book chapters. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists and the American Society of Plant Biologists.

Research Interest

Germplasm characterization and development, plant biosynthetic pathways analysis and alteration, development of bioproducts and bioprocesses.
