Alessandro Tanca has received his PhD in Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology from the University of Sassari, Italy, in 2010. Prior to that, he received his Master and Bachelor degrees in Molecular Biotechnology from the same University in 2004 and 2006, respectively. In 2010 he joined Porto Conte Ricerche (Science and Technology Park of Sardinia, Italy) where he works in the Proteomics Laboratory as a research scientist. His research has focused on the development of proteomic methods for the analysis of formalin-fixed tissues, and their applications for biomarker discovery in cancer. More recently, he has been dealing with the study of the gut microbiota, specifically with the integration of metagenomic and metaproteomic analysis workflows for elucidating the relationship between the gut microbiota and autoimmune diseases. As of November 2015, he has authored 24 research articles and a book chapter. He has served as reviewer for several journals in the proteomics field.
Metaproteomics: proteomic analysis of the gut microbiota, integration of meta-omics data, relationship between gut microbiota and disease.
Tissue proteomics: proteomic analysis of archival tissues, cancer biomarker discovery
