Abstract :

Tomography involves the generation of narrow sections through an object as a non-invasive medical examination or procedure that uses cross-sectional images are used for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The study was carried out in-patients admitted in medicine, neurology and skin and STD wards in KIMS General Hospital, Amalapuram with symptoms were screened and confirmed to have nervous system, HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 infection (seropositive) by two HIV test systems (Rapid/ELISA/Western Blot) were enrolled if they met the inclusion criteria. 20 cases cranial CTs, in one cranial CT and MRI both and in 2 patients MRI of the spinal cord was done. Commonest abnormality was enhancing lesion/s (32%), ring enhancing in 3 cases and non-ring enhancing lesions in 6 cases. 5 patients had infarcts: Two of TBM, one each of PML, HIV per se and Cryptococcal meningitis. CNS Tuberculosis is the commonest disease in patients presenting with neurological abnormalities 12/30 (42.2%). Eight of these patients had Tuberculoma. Cryptococcal meningitis was commonest meningitis presenting in 8/0 (26%) of the patients. Finally it is concluded that Cranial CT and MRI can identify the onset of disease

At present, he is working in Guntur Medical College and Govt. General Hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India as Senior Resident.
