Abstract :

The inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is an inflammatory chronic condition that is relevant for patients, their families and society, through the physical, psychological, familial and social dimensions of life. Both are known to have higher incidence and prevalence in Northern Europe and North America and lower incidence and prevalence in Central and Southern Europe and South America. In Romania, the number of patients with IBD is about 15000. The present communication highlights the impact of IBD on QOL (quality of life), the main question being how much could affect the quality of life of the patients with these disorders? Results showed that IBD significantly affected patients QOL, which indicated the need and importance of using health-related QOL to assess the progression of the disease. The use of IBDQ should be implanted for regular follow up in the clinic to evaluate the response of our management.
