Abstract :

The common causes of blepharitis and conjunctivitis diseases are infections, allergies, physical or chemical irritation, Staphylococcus bacterial infection of the eyelash follicles and skin disease. The phytochemicals of Calendula persica (CP) are Kalandvlyn, salicylic acid, resin-Hydro colloidal material, Gama kadvnyn, Delta Kadvnyn, phthalic acid and organic acid. This study proposes a non-chemical treatment for this disease. This experiment was done on 40 mice including observational and controlling groups. Extracts of these compounds in three times a day for 3 days were conducted local to the controlling group which had blepharitis then the inflammation factors were measured. Although the eye structure differs from the human anatomy but the findings were unexpected as this is a Gram-positive bacterium which produces enzymes. Coagulase cause blood clots and therefore is non-phagocytic by white blood cells. Hyaluronidase is going to breakdown hyaluronic acid in connective tissue and causes the spread of bacteria in the body. Staphylococcus aureus produces deoxy ribonuclease (DNAse) enzyme which breaks the DNA. Exfoliative toxin which is a protease that breaks down skin causes early squamous staphylococci skin syndrome. According to CP acidic compounds especially Kalandvlyn, causes degradation of the bacteria and stops the bacteria reaction. The inflammation factors such as ESR and CRP were decreased significantly in comparison with the observational group.
