Abstract :

Homoeopathic system of medicine, having originated from Europe, utilizes a number of exotic plants with reference to India. Uses of more than one plant in the same genus but with different clinical indications requires careful scrutiny and attention to parts used and identity. A few examples where mistakes are likely to occur will be illustrated with examples and pictorial slides. Picture of homoeopathic medicinal plants to be shown are: Argemone maxicana & Argemone ochroleuca ; Brugmansia arborea & B. suaveolens ; Datura (4 species) ; Viola odorata & Viola tricolor ; Saraca asoca and its other adulterants ; Trifolium pratense & T.repens ; Cassia fistula & C. sophera ; Holarrhena antidysenterica & Wrightia tinctoria; Calendula officinalis and its adulterant Tagetes erecta etc
