Abstract :

Endometriosis is the presence and growth of endometrial glands and stroma identical to the lining of the uterus in an aberrant location which grows under the cyclic influence of ovarian hormones particularly estrogen thus, it is most commonly found during the reproductive years. It is usually found in the pelvis, especially in the ovaries, uterosacral ligaments, round ligaments and the bladder but may also be observed in rare, extrapelvic sites such as gastrointestinal tract, lungs, and on the skin especially after obstetric surgical procedure. Surgical scar endometriosis is a rare condition which commonly arises after obstetric and gynecologic operations. Based on the POGS census, there are only 5 reported cases of extrapelvic endometriosis in the last 4 years; however, exact sites were not specifically mentioned. For the last 3 years, three cases were reported in our institution, two cases of which were from episiorrhaphy site and another was from a CS scar. However this time, a rare case of CS scar endometriosis had developed as a periumbilical mass with associated bleeding and pain especially during menses. The patient underwent wide excision biopsy and repair and histopath findings were consistent with findings of endometrial glands and stroma
