Abstract :

Novel metal (II) complexes of diphenyl ether hydrazone have been synthesized and spectroscopically characterized using IR, UV-Vis spectra, magnetic moments,1H NMR, mass spectra, molar conductance, and ESR measurements as well as Thermal analyses (DTA and TGA). The complexes adopt distorted octahedral geometry. Molar conductance in DMF solution indicates the non-ionic nature of the complexes. The ESR spectra of solid Cu (II) complexes showed g11>gâ?´>ge. The cytotoxicity of the ligand and its metal complexes showed potent cytotoxicity effect against growth of human liver cancer HepG2 cell line compared to the clinical used Sorafenib (Nexavar). The results show that, some complexes recorded high cytotoxicity against HEPG-2 cell lines regarding to IC50. Also, the cytotoxicity was found to be concentration dependent. The complexes are very promising showing high activity against HepG2.
