Abstract :

E rythropoietin (EPO) is a hematopoietic factor which regulates committed lineage-specific progenitor. EPO and its receptor are expressed in the human brain tissue. EPO is a Neuroprotective not only cerebral ischemia but excite toxin and neuroinflammation. Whether EPO protects motor neuron death against glutamate and axotomy induced spinal motor neuron death. EPO protects not only glutamate- induced but axotomy induced neuronal death. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by death of motor neurons and our results shows EPO may be one of candidate in therapeutic strategy in ALS
