Introduction: Nowadays, the evaluation, assessment and analysis of scientific outputs of universities and scientific centers is considered necessary through bibliometrics and scientometrics. In this regards, the evaluation of scientific documents in the field of stem cell biology and technology in national and international journals indexed in the web of science (ISI) database is no exception. Therefore, publishing articles in high quality journals with more collaboration with other scientists in all around the world is highly recommended to authors due to more turnover and maximizing the effectiveness of scientific production. This paper studied Royan Institute research outputs as a sample of Iranian stem cell research center during 2011 till the end of 2015 to show the trends of stem cell researches. Material & Methods: In this research, data and outputs in the field of stem cell research were collected from WoS database using the scientometric methods. Data visualization was done by using VOSviewer software which is a computer program for creating maps based directly on network and bibliographic data which can visualizing and exploring these maps. The present evaluation method is called scientometrics which is used by researchers in the field of future studies. A total of 294 documents was extracted from web of science database and analyzed. Original articles and review papers were considered for analyzing and publications were identified with the keyword: "stem", and affiliation were considered "Royan Inst" , Iran". Results: Royan Institute for stem cell biology and technology group had 294 scientific documents in total. The main research topics of this group constituted to four area of cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology and experimental medicine.The most scientific collaboration of stem cell researchers in the production of scientific papers was respectively with united states, Australia and then Germany. 88.28 of articles were in English language. Most articles were published repectively in Cell Journal and then Stem Cells & Development. The growth in the production of articles in the year 2015 was more than 14% compared to 2011. Hirsch index of the institute was 24. The greatest concentration and most used keywords in the articles of this institute were as follow: differentiation, Mesenchymal stem cells, Transplantation, Disease, Proliferation, Human embryonic stem cells and pluripotent stem cells. Conclusion: Transplantation and regenerative medicine is considered as the future of stem cell researches with emphasis on application of these cells especially in cancer treatments. Iranian stem cell researchers are researching with a great deal of interest and are enthusiastic to work in multicenter multidisciplinary studies with international collaboration. lotfipanah_setad@yahoo.com
