Abstract :

America?s population is aging. Number of people aged over 90 years or older has tripled since 1980. By 2050, the 90 and over age group will be 10% of US population. With this, there will be increased need for health care access and particularly in the field of cardiology, there will be increased need for invasive and interventional procedures. We also need to develop appropriateness criteria for these procedures in this age group, as there will be increased incidence of acute coronary syndromes in this population. Most of the randomized trials in cardiology involve patients under the age of 90 yrs. This case illustrates diagnostic and therapeutic challenges involving such a patient.
