Aquatic toxicology is the study of the effects of chemicals and other anthropogenic and natural materials and activities on aquatic organisms at various levels of organization, from subcellular through individual organisms to communities and ecosystems. Aquatic toxicology is the study of the effects of manufactured chemicals and other anthropogenic and natural materials and activities on aquatic organisms at various levels of organization, from subcellular through individual organisms to communities and ecosystems.The water may be a sheltered oceanic bay containing penned organisms, inland ponds or an indoor tank system. The more contained the aquatic rearing system, the more diligent must be monitoring and controls over the artificial ecosystem.
