Positive psychology, a branch of psychology that focuses on cultivating strengths and virtues, has brought about a paradigm shift in the way we approach mental well-being. Psychologists distinguish between two types of happiness-hedonic (pleasureoriented) and eudaimonic (meaning-oriented). While the pursuit of pleasure is essential, finding meaning and purpose in life is equally crucial for sustained well-being.

Factors influencing happiness

Role of genetics: Research suggests that genetics play a role in determining baseline happiness levels. However, it's important to note that genetics only provide a predisposition, and intentional activities and lifestyle choices significantly impact overall happiness.
