About the Study

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an interconnected network of computing devices, mechanical and digital equipment, materials, animals and people with Unique Identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to communicate information without requiring human-tohuman or human-to-computer interaction. Organizations across a wide range of industries are rapidly moving to IoT to improve operational efficiency, better understand customers in order to provide better customer service, improve decision-making and boost the value of their businesses. An IoT ecosystem is made up of web-enabled smart devices that accept, send and act on data from their environment using embedded systems such as CPUs, sensors and communication hardware.

By connecting to an IoT gateway or other edge device, IoT devices can share sensor data, which can then be sent to the cloud for analysis or examined locally. These technologies may occasionally communicate with one another and act on the information they acquire. Although people can engage with the devices to set them up, give them instructions, or retrieve data, the gadgets do the majority of the work without human participation.

The IoT applications that are implemented determine the connectivity, networking and communication protocols that these web-enabled devices use. IoT can also employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to make data collection processes easier and more dynamic. People can use the internet of things to live and work more effectively and given existing control over their life. In addition to producing smart gadgets to automate homes, the Internet of Things is vital to business. Businesses may get a real-time perspective of how their systems work due to the Internet of Things, which provides data on anything from machine performance to supply chain and logistical operations. Companies may use the Internet of Things to automate processes and to save cost on man power. It also reduces waste and enhances service delivery by reducing the price of manufacturing and delivering items and providing transparency into consumer transactions.

As a result, the Internet of Things has become one of the most important technologies in everyday life, and it will continue to flourish as more organizations can see benefits.

Advantages of IoT

The internet of things can help businesses in a variety of ways. Some advantages are industry-specific, while others are relevant to a variety of industries.

Some of the most well-known IoT benefits help firms to

• Monitor their overall business processes

• Improve the Customer Experience (CX)

• Save time and money

• Enhance employee productivity

• Integrate and adapt business models

• Make better business decisions and

• Generate more revenue

IoT enables firms to rethink how they do business and provides them with the tools to better their strategy. In general, IoT is most prevalent in manufacturing, transportation and utility firms, where sensors and other IoT devices are used; but, it has also found applications in agriculture, infrastructure, and home automation, leading to certain organisations' digital transformation.

The Internet of Things can help farmers by making their work easier. Sensors can gather information on rainfall, humidity, and temperature and soil composition, among other things, to aid in the automation of farming practices.

The ability to monitor infrastructure operations is another factor that IoT may help with. Sensors could, for example, be used to monitor events or changes in structural buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure. This provides a number of benefits, including cost savings, time savings, improved workflow quality, and a paperless workflow.

IoT can be used by a home automation firm to monitor and control mechanical and electrical systems in a building. Smart cities can help citizens minimise waste and energy usage on a larger scale. Every industry is impacted by the Internet of Things, including healthcare, banking, retail, and manufacturing.
