Dr. Yoon received her Ph.D. in 1990 from the Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. After 3 years of post-doctoral study at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, she moved to the Mokwon University in 1994. In 2006, she became a professor at the Department of Life Sciences and in 2011 became a dean at the College of Science and Technology, Mokwon University. She received the Outstanding Research Efforts Award from the Mokwon University 2 times and the Best Paper Award from The Korean Society for Biomedical Laboratory Sciences 2 times. She had served on the editorial boards of "Pharmacological Research" and "Journal of Experimental & Biomedical Sciences". She is the author or co-author of more 70 articles and the co-inventor of 7 patents.
Her studies are largely focused on the obesity and its related disorders such as type 2 diabetes and NAFLD: 1) the role of PPARa in obesity, 2) the role of the angiogenesis inhibitors in obesity and its metabolic diseases, 3) the role of ginseng in obesity and its metabolic diseases.
