Biography

Dr. Xiaohu Xie is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where his doctoral research focused on the role of group II metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR2/3) in cocaine-induced behavioral and neurochemical sensitization. After receiving his Ph.D. in Pharmacology, he joined the Department of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a postdoctoral research associate. His postdoctoral research has focused on investigating the neuropharmacological mechanisms through which drug-paired contextual stimuli control cocaine-seeking behavior, using behavioral, pharmacological, and molecular approaches.

Research Interest

His long-term interest is to investigate the neural mechanisms of cocaine-induced addictive behaviors with various rodent models. Specifically, behavioral, anatomical, pharmacological, neurochemical, and molecular approaches are integrated to investigate the mechanisms underlying the effects of cocaine-paired environmental stimuli on cognitive functions.
