Vitor H Pomin

Biography

Vitor H. Pomin was born and raised in Petrópolis, a small town approximately 40 miles away from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the year 1980. After finished his high-school studies, he moved to Rio de Janeiro to pursue the degrees of Licenciate in Biological Sciences (2003), Masters (2005) and PhD (2008) at Biological Chemistry supervised by Prof. Paulo Mourão; all degrees from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Right after his PhD defense, Dr. Pomin moved to Athens, GA, USA for a period of 2.5 years to pursue his post-doctorate at Prof. Prestegard’s laboratory in Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, University of Georgia. Currently, he holds a position of Professor of Biochemistry at the same Institute he graduated, the Institute of Medical Biochemistry.

Research Interest

The research expertise of Dr. Pomin comprises mainly the application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Glycobiology.
