Sultan was born in the Sultanate of Oman. He moved to New Zealand in 2004 to study medicine. However, he ended up doing double degrees in Medicine and PhD in disaster medicine.
Sultan is interested in trauma and emergency surgery as well as critical care and disaster medicine.
