Biography

Dr. Simona Tafuri is working as Assistant Professor at Dept. Medicine Veterinary and Animal Production (University Federico II, Naples). She is graduated in Biological Sciences, is PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology and is specialized in Clinical Biochemistry (University Federico II, Naples). She obtained a Scientific Agreement and a post-doctoral fellowship (University Federico II, Naples). Her research interest involves the analysis of the molecular mechanisms of action of natural substances on cell adhesion and signals transduction in different cellular systems, the study of neuropeptides and neurotransmitters (orexin and receptors, serotonin and SERT) in animal tissues, the study of the molecular mechanisms responsible for the pathogenicity of microorganisms in humans and animals; and lately the oxidative stress assessment on reproduction and animal welfare. She is author of 36 publications on international scientific journals, and of 4 chapters of books.

Research Interest

Her research interest involves the analysis of the molecular mechanisms of action of natural substances (peptides isolated from the venom of vipers and mycotoxins) on cell adhesion and signals transduction in different cellular systems (platelets, cells cultures); the study of the presence and function of neuropeptides and neurotransmitters (orexin and receptors, serotonin and SERT) in animal tissues; the study of the molecular mechanisms responsible for the pathogenicity of microorganisms in humans and animals; and lately the oxidative stress assessment on reproduction and animal welfare.
