Director of Autopsy Services - National Forensic Autopsy and Tissue Recovery Services, United States Director of Neuropathology Services – Kansas Institute of Neurological Sciences Forensic Pathology Consultant – Forensic Medical Consultants Adjunct Assistant Professor, Dept. of Human Science – Johnson County Community College Shawn L. Parcells, BS, MSHAPI, PA is a Forensic Pathology Consultant and Clinical Anatomist and Physiologist with a sub-specialization in Neuroanatomy/Neurophysiology. He is an expert pathologist assistant on general forensic pathology to include all forms of blunt force and sharp force injury; pattern injury analysis; gunshot wounds; strangulation and asphyxia; fire deaths; drug deaths; and sudden death related to medical conditions. He is particularly active in the issues of child abuse. In addition to examining and testifying in child abuse cases, he helps train attorneys litigating child abuse in the medical aspects of inflicted childhood injury for both fatal and non-fatal cases. He also helps train attorneys and other healthcare professionals, including social workers, on the aspects of discerning real child abuse from disease processes that mimic child abuse. He is also very active in evaluating shooting cases, both fatal and non-fatal gunshot wounds. His analysis helps provides attorney’s on guidance of likely scenarios that occurred during the shooting that can help narrow down the events of the shooting. Prof. Parcells is Nationally and Internationally known. Prof. Parcells is the Director of Autopsy Services for National Forensic Autopsy and Tissue Recovery Services and the Director of Neuropathology Services for Kansas Institute of Neurological Sciences. His company provides coroner and private autopsy services throughout the Midwest and the Country. His company also helps provide quick recovery of rare diseased tissue for shipment to various research institutions around the world. His company also provides consultative support to lawyers around the country on cases warranting a second opinion or computer animation. His company has helped provide consultative support on case reviews to families and attorneys throughout the Nation and abroad. Prof. Parcells is also trained as a Clinical Anatomist and Physiologist with a sub-specialization in Neuroanatomy/Neurophysiology where he consults with attorneys on DUI cases, medical cases and wrongful death cases. Prof. Parcells also consults on Forensic Radiology and helps teach radiologists, radiology techs, healthcare professionals, and attorneys on the new emerging field of Forensic Radiology. Prof. Parcells also is actively focused on head trauma, concussion, abusive head trauma, and pediatric head trauma (abusive head trauma) as an area of focused research and consultation. Prof. Parcells teaches throughout the country to attorneys and healthcare professionals about adult and pediatric head trauma. Prof. Parcells also works as a guest lecturer doing Forensic and A and P lectures for various institutions throughout the country and related programs at the undergraduate/graduate levels and for CEUs/CLEs/professional development. Currently Prof. Parcells is completing his doctorate in general and forensic epidemiology through Capella University located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
