Biography

Prof Pi Wan Cheng has received his PhD in Case Western Reserve University in 1975. Currently, he is working as professor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Nebraska. He has a membership of Professional Societies like Society for Glycobiology, American Thoracic Society and Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America (Lifetime member). He is serving as an editorial member for Journal of Biochemistry International. He is a member of Student Non Thesis Proposal (Comprehensive) Examination Committees. He has honored as NIH Young Investigator Research Award in 1978-81.

Research Interest

Pi-Wan Cheng’s laboratory is interested in the structure and function of mucin-type glycans. Current projects include identification of glycosyltransferases involved in the synthesis of biologically important glycans in a specific glycoprotein, roles of glycans involved in cancer metastasis, and the mechanisms of ER-to-Golgi transport, Golgi retention, and Golgi-to-ER transport of glycosyltransferases.
