Paul Macdermid

Biography

As an elite sports person I representing GB in whitewater slalom kayaking (a long time ago) but moved into the coaching scene at an elite level for this sport and at the same time into teaching (it's been 20 years now!). I still dabble in the world of coaching where I help out a number of NZ athletes for mountain biking and running from grassroots level to NZ reps. Different athlete’s I help out have competed at World Champs level since 2005 for Cross Country Mountain Biking, Athletics, Whitewater Slalom, Whitewater racing, and Flatwater Canoeing). My current interests lie in research into performance and ergonomic aspects of cross country mountain biking but am currently involved in a number of similar projects working with elite runners and slalom kayak paddlers.
