Pablo Mendez-Lazaro

Biography

Dr. Pablo Méndez-Lázaro is an Assistant Professor at the University of Puerto Rico-Medical Sciences Campus, Department of Environmental Health. He holds degrees in Geography, Marine Sciences and Environmental Sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, University of Cadiz (Spain) and University of Salamanca(Spain),Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. He has a broad background in physical geography, with specific training and expertise in key research areas such as GIS, hydrology, marine sciences and climate change. He has been a research assistant at the Hispano-Luso Center of Agricultural Research of the University of Salamanca with the Water Resources Research Group (HIDRUS).It currently belongs to the Ibero-American network of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (IBERMAR) and serves as a Professor of aquatic environment, coastal zone management and water pollution. It maintains active research projects and collaboration with various federal, state and international agencies; including Junta de Castilla y León (Spain), National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US Forest Service and National Weather Service, where he developed research focused on hydrology, hydro-climatic analysis, coastal areas and watersheds.
