Milen Ivanov Georgiev is an Associated Professor of Applied Biotechnologies in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgaria. He is a member of Phytochemical Society of Europe, Phytochemical Society of North America and European Federation of Biotechnology. He received Pythagoras award for best young Bulgarian scientist under 35, Marin Drinov award for the best young Bulgarian scientist in biological science and included in Who’s Who in the World, 26th Edition (2009).
His research focuses on Plant in vitro systems, Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated transformations, Secondary metabolism (biosynthesis of iridoids, phenylpropanoids, alkaloids), Bioreactor systems and bioengineering, NMR Metabolomics, Optimization of bioprocesses, Evaluation of biological activities (antioxidant, antiinflammatory, antimicrobial, acetylcholinesterase inhibitors) and Biomonitoring through flow cytometry.
