Biography

My name is Keith E. Jackson and I am originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I went to Southern University, where I received a pre-Medicine/Biology degree and I went on to graduate school at the University of North Texas HSC in Fort Worth, Texas. I post-doc for one year at UNTHSC and for two years at the Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans and I was an instructor of Physiology for two years before joining the faculty here in the College of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. My selfish interests center on spending quality time with the family traveling and doing children friendly activities. In addition I also enjoy restoring older model cars. My research interests lie in studying whole animal integrative physiology with emphasis on hypertension. The goal of our research studies is to understand the controlling mechanisms, which lead to the development and maintenance of an elevation in mean arterial pressure in hypertensive patients and subsequent end-organ cardiovascular and renal damage.

Research Interest

Identifying novel therapeutic strategies for the prevention and treatment of hypertension, studying cardiovascular function in various animal models of hypertension, studying renal function (hemodynamics and clearance) in various animal models of hypertension and investigating the roles of prophins and gases messengers in hypertension and diabetes
