- During  2001 to 2005 Ilka worked as a professor unfder the department of   Nutrition and Food Sciences in The Center for Integrated BioSystems

- In 2005 he worked as a Program Director for Nutrition Science

- Currently he is Faculty Senate, Budget and Faculty Welfare Committee
