Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Psychiatric Genetics in 2004 from Queen’s University, Canada. From 2004 to now, he has been working in Department of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine as Postdoctoral Associate (2004-2006), Associate Research Scientist (2006-2009) and Assistant Professor (2009 – present). He has served as a reviewer for more than 10 journals. He has been a member of the American Journal of Human Genetics since 2000.
Dr. Zhang’s research interest is in genetic and epigenetic studies of substance dependence and related disorders. He is investigating the effect of gene variation and DNA methylation changes on the disorders. He is also interested in pharmacogenetic study of substance dependence. The ultimate goal of Dr. Zhang’s research is to find the innovative approaches for the prevention and treatment of substance dependence and co-morbid disorders.
