He received his Ph.D in 1998 from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and conducted postDoc research in University of Southern California from 1999-2001, and University of California, San Diego from 2001-2004 before he joined Indiana University in 2004. He is a recipient of the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2007.
He is interested in the algorithms for the analysis of mass spectrometric data, in particular from proteomics and glycomics.
