Dr McCarty is a physician in Genitourinary and HIV Medicine and a forensic medical examiner for sexual offences. She is widely published in the field of sexual dysfunction, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS and has presented at many national and international conferences. Dr McCarty has an active involvement in research and is currently co-investigator in several MRC HIV trials. She is a council member of British Society of Sexual Medicine and sits on British Association of Sexual Health and HIV special interest groups in Sexual Dysfunction and Sexual Violence.
