Biography

Dr. Goel is currently an Assistant Professor in the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa, USA. Dr. Goel received her undergraduate degree in Biotechnology from Pune University, India. She pursued her doctorate in Biotechnology at Institute of Microbial Technology, India. Dr. Goel then undertook post-doctoral studies at University of Nebraska Medical center and at Mayo Clinic, USA. During her postdoctoral research at UNMC, she developed a radioimmunotherapy approach to the treatment of solid tumors. Subsequently she spent two years at Mayo Clinic studying the interactions between genes and transcription factors. During her next two years at Mayo clinic, Dr. Goel combined her basic and translational experience in multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkins lymphoma models. Dr. Goel is currently pursuing targeted radiotherapy (using bone-seeking radiotherapy and oncolytic viruses encoding for human sodium iodide symporter gene) with molecular drugs to target these B-cell malignancies. Dr. Goel has published more than 25 papers in reputed journals, and authored several review articles and book chapters. She is serving as grant reviewer for several agencies and scientific reviewer for several journals.

Chemo-radiotherapy for hematological malignancies, Understanding and circumventing resistance to radiotherapy in multiple myeloma and B-cell lymphoma.
