Antonio Pierini

Biography

He is a Postdoctoral Fellow from Divison of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Stanford University,USA. His experience in research started in 2005, when he joined Mecucci lab in Hematology Department of University of Perugia, Italy. He studied mechanisms of disease in congenital neutropenias such as Kostmann Disease, Cyclic Neutropenia and Schwachman-Diamond Disease using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Denaturing High Performance Liquid Chromatography (DHPLC) techniques. He got his MD degree in October, 2006; his thesis was “Mutation Analysis in Congenital Neutropenias”. In 2007 he became sonographer of neck, abdomen and pelvis after studying in “Gemelli” Hospital in Rome. He started his residency in Hematology, Clinical Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplantation in March 2008 in Hematology Unit, Clinical and Experimental Medicine Department, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy.
