Biography

Dr. Amrita Pathak completed her PhD in developmental neuroscience from Department of Endocrinology, Sanjay Gandhi PG Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, India. For her postdoctoral training, she joined Biochemistry Department at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN, USA, where she is currently employed as a Research faculty. She is also working as a visiting scientist in the Department of Biology at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA. She has been working on the mechanisms of neurodevelopment and degeneration. Her current research is focused on axonal transport of degenerative signals during neurodevelopment and degeneration using neurons cultured in microfluidic devices (in vitro) and in vivo rodent models. She is passionate about her research and well appreciates the artistic aspect of the scientific images.

Research Interest

Her research interest includes Cellular and molecular aspects of neurodevelopment and degeneration. I am interested in the mechanisms involved in mammalian nervous system development and neurodegenerative disease like ALS with emphasis on axonal transport of apoptotic signals in neurons.
