Biography

Dr. Alok Pandey works in Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University, New Jersey. The focus of his research addresses mitochondrial biogenesis and mitochondrial iron homeostasis. He has been working on various aspects of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster biogenesis, a multistep process that takes place in mitochondria. Many inherited disease of the nervous system including neurodegenerative and hematological disorders, ischemic heart disease, late-onset diabetes and cell aging involve mitochondrial dysfunction and underlining the central importance of this process for life. His research goal is to further characterize the regulation of mitochondrial proteins using biochemical, genetic, and structural studies.

Research Interest

Molecular biology, Protein biosynthesis, Protein-protein interactions, Enzyme activation, Protein expression, Cellular interactions, Epigenetics and Gene expression.
