Dr. Abbas Barfidokht received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, NSW, Australia) in 2014, under the supervision of Scientia Professor J. Justin Gooding. His PhD was focused on developing electrochemical bio-nanointerfaces for sensing applications. He perused his research in the same group as a Post-Doctoral fellow to collaborate with AgaMatrix (one of world leaders in blood glucose monitoring), and applying his develop biosensing interface to develop a home-use biosensor for glycosylated haemoglobin (HbA1c). Then after 1.5 years, Dr. Barfidokht joined the Nanobioelectronics Laboratory of Prof. Joseph Wang at University of California San Diego in 2016. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Scholar with the Department of Nanoengineering, and focused on the development of wearable electrochemical devices for medical, environmental and fitness applications.
