  A Synopsis on Neuropsychiatric Lupus

  Lupus is an autoimmune illness that affects the skin, kidneys, lungs, heart, and brain. The lack of tolerance to selfantigens and the production of autoantibodies are two of the autoimmune disorders that cause Systemic Lupus Erythematous (SLE). SLE frequently results in the formation of immunological complexes, which trigger leukocyte activation and the generation of cytokines, all of which contribute to systemic inflammation and tissue damage. Lupus patients often develop neuropsychiatric symptoms that lead to Neuropsychiatric Lupus (NPSLE) or Central Nervous System Lupus (CNS).
