Nanomedicine and the Evolution of Targeted Drug Delivery
    Author(s): Alexander Scott*

Nanomedicine refers to the application of nanotechnology in disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment through the use of materials typically ranging from 1 to 100 nanometres. At this scale, materials possess unique physicochemical characteristics that differ substantially from their bulk counterparts. These properties enable nanoparticles to interact more effectively with biological systems, providing opportunities for controlled drug release, improved bioavailability and selective targeting of diseased tissues. One of the most significant contributions of nanomedicine is its role in targeted drug delivery. Conventional medications are often distributed throughout the body after administration, exposing healthy tissues to unnecessary drug concentrations and increasing the risk of adverse effects. Nanocarriers, including liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, dendrimers, solid lipid nan.. View More»
